id Strikes Doom, Quake Clones Off Of Android Market
ZeniMax Media, the parent company of id Software, has filed a Digital Millennium Copyright Act complaint with Google requesting the removal of all unauthorized Doom, Quake, and Wolfenstein games. Android developer L!th!um confirmed the move with website AndroidAndMe.com:
"Some of you may have noticed that Doom for Android (FREE) no longer shows up in the market. ZeniMedia [sic], which owns id Software had filed a DMCA notice with Google Android Market and requested all Doom, Quake, and Wolfenstein games be removed do to copyright infringement."
This looks to be a clear signal that id is intending to release its own games on the Android platform. The developer already has Wolfenstein 3D Classic, Doom Resurrection, Doom Classic on Apple's App Store. Porting them over can't be too much of a stretch. What do you think?
