NIS America has revealed Grand Kingdom will be headed to PlayStation 4 and Vita this summer. The strategy RPG is being developed by Monochrome Corp., a new studio headed by Tomohiko Deguchi who helped create Muramasa: The Demon Blade and Grand Knights History.

Grand Knights History is a PSP game that was cancelled in the middle of its localization, and Grand Kingdom appears to share more than a few similarities with the Vanillaware developed title.

Grand Kingdom lets you choose one of four factions that have formed in the wake of a fallen empire. You lead a squad of mercenaries as you travel a war-torn continent, completing various contracts along the way.

Your character walks through a side scrolling world with a band of mercenaries as you travel between tactical RPG battles. This echoes Vanillaware's typical style of game, seeing as both Odin Sphere and Grand Knights History had similar structures.

Grand Kingdom boasts 12 unique classes to build up your gang of mercenaries. You can take your squadron online to battle for spoils of war and fight for your chosen faction.

If you purchase Grand Kingdom at launch the game will come with a 32-page art book, collectible box, and the game’s soundtrack on CD. There is also a limited edition which includes a larger 128-page hardcover art book, sticker sheet, and poster in addition to the launch game’s extra content.

Grand Kingdom releases June 21 for PlayStation 4 and Vita. If you fantasize about RPGs coming stateside, make sure to check out 10 RPG franchises we’d like to see come back.
