EA Holding Star Wars: Battlefront II AMA On Reddit For Reasons Passing Understanding

by Imran Khan on Nov 15, 2017 at 11:44 AM

Despite Reddit becoming a hotbed of anti-Electronic Arts anger in the last few days, including a record-smashing 680,000 downvoted comment from EA's community team, the publisher has decided to go ahead with an AMA (Ask Me Anything) event tomorrow on the social media/news aggregate site.

The announcement, which came today via EA's Star Wars-related Twitter account, specifies that three developers for the game will be available for questions at 12:30PM ET / 9:30AM PT on November 15. Even the most liberal AMAs are heavily curated and the questions carefully chosen, but it allows a platform for an incredibly angry base of people to vent their frustrations at the most direct source available to them.

It is a very strange decision in a long line of strange decisions being made by the publisher as they desperately try to move past the consternation centered around their holiday showpiece title. You can read what Andrew Reiner thought about Battlefront II in his review published today. Star Wars: Battlefront II is scheduled for a November 17 release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Our Take
It's possible EA plans to dance on the head of a pin and convince everyone of their new economy, or maybe announce some new changes that win everyone over, but the likelihood of that seems very low at the moment. This seems like sticking your head in the lion's mouth for no good reason.
