Madden Predicts Another Close Super Bowl

by Matthew Kato on Feb 01, 2017 at 06:02 AM

EA Sports has once again used its Madden title to predict the winner of this Sunday's Super Bowl. Can the Falcons keep Tom Brady from a fifth Super Bowl win?

In the first half both teams go to their big targets, whether it's Brady hitting Chris Hogan for a 38-yard TD pass to tie it up in the first quarter, or the Falcons' Julio Jones catching a deep ball to set up the TD that gives the Falcons the lead at the end of the half, 17-10.

The third quarter belongs to the Patriots, however, who build to a 20-17 lead. The Falcons take back the lead in the fourth with four minutes to go thanks to a crucial Matt Ryan TD to Mohamed Sanu Sr. Down 20-24, Brady drives down the field and faces a 4th and 4 in the red zone, with the game in his hands.

In the end, Brady is named the Super Bowl MVP with three TDs and 305 yards, and receiver Julian Edelman accounts for nine catches and a TD. On the other side, Matt Ryan threw two TDs and an INT, and overall the Falcons offense fell short. Combined, Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman accounting for only 87 yards, and star receiver Julio Jones – apart from his big catch in the first half – never found the end zone and was kept in check.
