Brush Up On Your 3DS Knowledge With Did You Know Gaming's Newest Segment

by Elise Favis on Oct 02, 2016 at 11:15 AM

Gaming trivia YouTube channel Did You Know Gaming takes a closer look at the history of the Nintendo 3DS in its newest video. While many of the facts aren't exactly obscure, it nonetheless gives a thorough overview of the handheld console's history and Nintendo's other attempts at 3D.

The first half of the video deals mostly with the latter, digging into the company's experiments with 3D. For example, outside of the infamous Virtual Boy, Nintendo developed a 3D screen for the GameCube, though it never released on the market because of its high cost.

As for the 3DS, Nintendo at one point developed a prototype that would allow users to manually switch the placement of the d-pad and circle pad, depending on how they preferred to play. For more on the 3DS, read editor Brian Shea's opinion piece about his concerns regarding Super Mario Maker's fewer features on the handheld console.
