Mirror’s Edge Catalyst Delayed To June 7

by Matt Miller on Apr 21, 2016 at 06:57 AM

Electronic Arts today announced that Mirror’s Edge is getting yet another delay. After moving to May 24 from an earlier announced released date of February 23, Mirror’s Edge Catalyst is once again pushing out its release, this time to June 7, and June 9 in Europe. It’s a minor delay, but EA states that the extra time will give the team the opportunity to respond to feedback from the beta, which begins tomorrow, April 22.

Check out a blog post about the delay from the game's design director, Erik Odeldahl. You can also check out a recent video of Mirror’s Edge Catalyst in action.

Our Take
It’s hard to imagine what substantial changes can be made to the game this late in development, depending on the response from the player base to the upcoming beta. Nonetheless, if EA believes it can continue to polish this long-awaited sequel with an extra two weeks in the oven, it seems a small price to pay on the chance that it can allow for some improvements to the final experience.
