You Might Be Getting A Free PC Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition Upgrade

by Mike Futter on Nov 04, 2015 at 08:30 AM

If you’re a Darksiders fan on PC, you might be getting a free upgrade to the new Deathinitive Edition. Even if you don’t own the original game, you can still go on Death’s adventure at a discount.

The Deathinitive Edition comes with all of the DLC and includes improved visuals. There’s a new graphics engine that results in improved lighting and shadows and runs the game at 1080p natively. There’s also improved loot distribution and balancing.

If you own the Darksiders Franchise Pack ($60) or activate it by November 5, you’ll get a free copy of the Deathinitive Edition. Given that this bundle includes all the Darksiders II DLC, you’re getting the upgrades at no cost.

If you own or activate Darksiders II ($30) or activate it by November 5, you can upgrade to get the DLC and new features at an 80 percent discount. The Deathinitive Edition costs $30, so for $6, you’ll get all the DLC and the improvements. The season pass, which only includes three of the thirteen DLC items, costs $19.99 by itself and definitely makes this a bargain if you already own the game.

Finally, if you are coming in fresh, you can still save some money. For the first week of the game’s release, you can pick up Darksiders II: The Deathinitive Edition at 20 percent off ($24).

The new version of the game is out tomorrow, November 5. For more, check out our review of the original release.

Our Take
For those that already own the franchise pack, which includes all the content, this makes a lot of sense. And for those that already own Darksiders II, a $6 upgrade is also a fair deal for all that DLC and the improvements. If you don’t already own the game, hold off until November 5 (but then you should definitely play it).
