Super Mario Maker Stage Coming To Smash Bros. Later This Month

by Brian Shea on Sep 14, 2015 at 03:38 PM

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS has seen a whole host of downloadable content since its release late last year, and with Super Mario Maker garnering fan and critical praise, it's only natural that the two titles would collide. With that in mind, Nintendo has announced that Super Mario Maker is getting its own stage in Super Smash Bros. by way of DLC.

At the beginning of the Super Mario Maker stage for Super Smash Bros., you'll see the hand that shows up in the Super Mario Maker creation tools lay out the stage. Each time you play the stage, it will be a different layout, meaning that you'll never know what is waiting for you. If any blocks happen to be broken in the midst of combat, the hand will return to repair them. If you'd like to see the chaos this stage brings, you can check out the trailer below.

The Super Mario Maker stage hits the Wii U and 3DS versions of Super Smash Bros. on September 30. Pricing details have not yet been released, nor has any announcement been made regarding whether or not this will be the only piece of DLC released on that day.

Our Take
This is a natural fit. Last month, I wrote an article about the stages I thought would be a good fit for Super Smash Bros. Near the top of my list was Super Mario Maker. This version of the stage sounds close to the idea I laid out, so I'm obviously a fan of the decision and the way Nintendo is implementing it.
