Crackdown 3 Features 100-Percent Destructible Multiplayer Environments

by Hershall Cook on Aug 04, 2015 at 04:37 AM

With Crackdown 3, developer Reagent Games aims to maintain the Crackdown series' classic gameplay while adding new ways to cause mayhem and destruction.

In the first and second Crackdown games, players took the roles of overpowered cops as they ran through the city and fought criminal organizations. Those two titles often maintained a tongue-in-cheek tone, emphasizing B-movie humor. Crackdown 3, however, may take the series in a slightly more serious direction.

Pitched as the ultimate sandbox adventure, Crackdown 3 features a new, larger-than-ever city, drivable vehicles, and a dynamic ecosystem. According to the trailer shown at Gamescom, players take on the city's criminal hierarchy by attacking whoever they choose. The trailer also displayed orbs, a collectible used in previous games to become more powerful.

Perhaps the most exciting announcement lies in Crackdown 3's multiplayer mode, which now offers completely destructible environments.

Crackdown 3 releases in summer 2016.
