Take A Peek Inside This $499 NES
The Nt from Analogue Interactive isn't just any old NES emulator. This sleek, $499 machine is custom-built around the original NES' Ricoh 20A3 and Ricoh 2C02 microprocessors. Besides being a functioning console that can play your back library, it's beautiful to look at. The body is carved from a single block of aluminum, and even the circuit boards look like they belong in an art museum.
All of that craftsmanship isn't cheap, though. Just the metal body is $499, and the price goes up from there depending on the custom-made cables and controllers you want. Refurbished first-party NES controllers are about $50 a piece, and the cables run anywhere from $20 to $30. If that's too expensive, just take a look at the gorgeous photos below. Anyone interested in making the purchase can set up a pre-order here.
We hope to weigh in on the console's strengths and weaknesses when review units become available.
