Art Gallery Exhibit Gives Movies, Pop Culture The Video Game Treatment
Designer and illustrator Aled Lewis is no stranger to video game art. Over the years he’s partnered with Los Angeles based art gallery Iam8bit and through them Insomniac Games to produce some stellar work. Now he has a new exhibit by the name of “Such Pixels” being featured at Gallery 1988 in L.A.
The pieces on display come in a couple different varieties. Many are pixelated scenes from movies and television, such as Forrest Gump in a game of Tecmo Bowl or a side-scrolling beat-em up depicting characters from the TV comedy It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Others are fighting game vs. screens pitting pop-culture icons against one another, and some are wooden cubes strategically placed to resemble gaming icons like the Galaga Ship and Mrs. Pac-Man – with an artistic twist of course. No matter the format, every piece is clever and worth a look.
