Review Round-Up 11/12/2013

by Isaac Perry on Nov 12, 2013 at 12:15 PM

With the shadow of the Playstation 4 launch looming, you might have missed out on some the week’s reviews. Good thing we’ve gathered our reviews and impressions all in one convenient place.

Popular game series were in the hot seat this week. We cover the story-heavy, the blockbuster shooter, the strategic masterpiece, and the return to the Rachet and Clank formula.

Bioshock Infinite - Burial at Sea Episode 1 – 2K Games – Irrational Games
“…the additions are minimal at best, leaving players to go through the same motions with a different backdrop. For a world that invites infinite possibilities, I was hoping for less familiarity.” – Joe Juba

XCOM: Enemy Within – 2K Games – Firaxis Games
“The game was so finely balanced that I thought adding to it would disrupt its strategic flow, but Firaxis has released an expansion that slides between Enemy Unknown’s cracks, filling in some gaps I didn’t even realize existed, further diversifying the tactics without disrupting XCOM’s delicate balance.” – Ben Reeves

Rachet & Clank: Into the Nexus – Sony Computer Entertainment – Insomniac Games
“Should we be demanding bigger and better things? Maybe, but there’s something about this formula that just works. I walked away from it hungry for more.” – Andrew Reiner

Call of Duty: Ghosts – Activision – Infinity Ward
“Even without its own significant hook or sense of identity, however, Ghosts is still fun thanks to Call of Duty’s polished and reliable backbone that’s been established for years.” – Dan Ryckert

… and in case you missed it, here’s the current-gen review from last week.
