Angry Birds Not So Angry After 350 Million Downloads

by Ben Reeves on Sep 13, 2011 at 08:04 AM

We may be in the middle of Angry Birds mania. Rovio’s addictive mobile title has spawned movies tie-ins, stuffed animals, T-shirts, and board games. Parody games float around the internet by the hundreds, the game has been featured in advertisement for products like Bing and T-Mobile, and even mentioned on television shows like Conan and The Daily Show. All of this shouldn’t be surprising considering the fact that these wingless birds have taken flight across more than 350 million mobile devices.

As technology blog VentureBeat recently reported, titles within the Angry Birds franchise have been downloaded more than 350 million times. Rovio’s general manager Andrew Stalbow claims that mobile users spend more than 300 million minutes playing Angry Birds every day.

“People in Hollywood are really surprised with the quick acceleration in the way consumers engage with entertainment on their mobile phones,” said Stalbow. ”There will be some interesting entertainment partnerships that will hopefully take what we had from [Angry Birds Rio] to a totally different level.”

How do you make Angry Birds bigger than it already is? We don’t know, but we’re interested to see what these Angry Birds do next.
