Destiny - Xur's Gear And Upgrades For The Weekend Of March 6

by Matt Miller on Mar 05, 2015 at 09:50 PM

Xur returns for another week at the Tower, and he brings with him a new selection of exotic weapons and armor, including the return of what many consider to be the most essential weapon in the game.

The appearance of Ice Breaker is unlikely to get too many shouts of excitement from longtime Destiny fans, as the once-coveted sniper rifle has been on sale numerous times in recent weeks. Nonetheless, if you don't have one (or three), any experienced Destiny player will be happy to regale you with its importance in high level raid and strike play, thanks to its high damage output and recharging magazine.

While both Warlocks and Hunters have decent armor options, the Titans probably have the best fortune this week, with the appearance of the Helm of Saint-14 up for sale. The helmet comes in handy for its ability to blind enemies that enter your shield, and if you still need a good option for your Titan's head slot, it's hard to go wrong here.

Xur is hiding out over in the Tower Hanger this week, in the far back lounge. Upon arriving in the Tower, turn right and run as far down and back as you can to find the enigmatic shopkeep. Check out his full selection of purchases and upgrade options for the weekend:

Ice Breaker (exotic sniper rifle) - 17 strange coins

  • Solar Damage
  • Attack: 302/331
  • No Backpack (can't be reloaded, but regenerates ammo)
  • Mulligan (Missing a shot has a chance to return ammo directly to the magazine)
  • Ice Breaker (Victims spontaneously combust, dealing damage to nearby targets)

Helm of Saint-14 (Titan helmet) - 13 strange coins

  • Defense: 407/447
  • Light: 30/36
  • Rain Blows (faster melee)
  • Inverse Shadow (more super energy from killing minions of the Darkness)
  • Starless Night (Ward of Dawn blinds enemies who enter)

Young Ahamkara's Spine (Hunter gauntlets) - 13 strange coins

  • Defense: 336/366
  • Light: 30/36
  • Special Weapon Loader (faster reload speed for special weapons)
  • Ashes to Asset (more super energy from grenade kills)
  • Improved Tripmine Grenade (tripmines last longer)

Skull of Dire Ahamkara (Warlock helmet) - 13 strange coins

  • Defense: 311/402
  • Light: 30/36
  • Energy Projection (increased grenade throw distance)
  • Quintessence Transfer (grenade kills replenish super energy)
  • Delusions of Grandeur (reduced damage while completing Nova Bomb, and better Siphon ability)

Xur is also stocking exotic shards for seven strange coins, the Urn of Sacrifice for one strange coin, a blue and red Sparrow upgrade for twenty-three strange coins, and telemetries for auto rifles, shotguns, and rocket launchers each in packs of five for one strange coin. An exotic chest engram is on sale for twenty-three motes of light. And while they're not quite as valuable as they were a few weeks ago (thanks to the long-awaited heavy ammo patch) you can also snag a pack of five heavy ammo synths for one strange coin.

This week’s upgrade list includes the following:

  • Achlyophage Symbiote (Hunter helmet)
  • Mask of the Third Man (Hunter helmet)
  • Helm of Inmost Light (Titan helmet)
  • An Insurmountable Skullfort (Titan chest)
  • Light Beyond Nemesis (Warlock helmet)
  • Sunbreakers (Warlock arms)
  • Suros Regime (auto rifle)
  • Bad Juju (pulse rifle)
  • MIDA Multi-Tool (scout rifle)
  • Plan C(fusion rifle)
  • Thunderlord (machine gun)
  • Gjallarhorn (rocket launcher)
