With last year’s Call of Duty: Strike Team, the venerable shooter franchise is no stranger to mobile gaming. Call of Duty: Heroes, the series’ latest mobile entry, breaks its shooting-focused tradition by introducing tower defense gameplay to the franchise and bringing along some familiar faces to ease the transition.

In Call of Duty: Heroes players will have to defend customizable outposts from enemy attacks. Players can kit out their bases with all kinds of tools of destruction, including sentry guns, turrets, and mines. If that sounds like Clash of Clans (or the more recent Star Wars: Galactic Defense), the images below suggest you wouldn't be wrong.

In addition to managing base operations, players will lead classic Call of Duty characters like Soap McTavish and Captain Price into battle. Killstreaks make a return too, as you can unleash drone strikes and chopper gunners on your unwitting foes.

Call of Duty: Heroes is available now and free to play for iOS and Windows 8 Tablets. Google Play and Amazon versions will be available on a later date.
