Valve Sets Its Steam Direct Fee At $100

by Matthew Kato on Jun 02, 2017 at 02:48 PM

Valve has set the publishing fee for Steam Direct at $100, a low enough fee that should help developers get their titles on the platform and in front of gamers.

Along with this fee – Valve previously said it was considering a higher fee when it canceled Stream Greenlight and announced Steam Direct – the company has announced it's going to work on its store algorithm to improve how games are presented to users given the influx of titles that will likely occur due to the low Steam Direct fee.

Valve says it's also making changes to its Curators program, and promises to share more about Steam Direct's release date. Read more details about the changes in the source link below.

Our Take
It's good to hear that Valve is also looking at how games are surfaced given the lower fee, as the sheer amount of titles on the platform will only grow as a concern as time goes on.
