From Death Stranding To Horizon Zero Dawn, What To Expect From PlayStation Experience

by Andrew Reiner on Dec 01, 2016 at 07:32 AM

This weekend should be a big one for video game news. On the heels of tonight's The Game Awards show, which teases up to 10 world-exclusive reveals for games like Mass Effect Andromeda and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Sony is kicking off PlayStation Experience in Anaheim, California on Saturday. As the name implies, this two-day expo is dedicated exclusively to PlayStation gaming. Although Sony reserves many of its big announcements for its E3 press conferences, a few big reveals have occurred at previous PlayStation Experiences, such as our first look at gameplay from Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and the debut of Street Fighter V.

What can we expect from this year's PlayStation Experience? If Sony's listing for panels teases anything, we should be seeing two new games make their debuts. Along with panels for HIdeo Kojima's forthcoming Death Stranding and Guerrilla Games' Horizon Zero Dawn, Sony has times locked for two "unannounced panels," which usually means unannounced games. One of them is likely for Marvel vs. Capcom 4, which is rumored to debut at this show. What could the other one be? We'll have to wait to find out.

This year's PlayStation Experience also offers an exhibit hall filled with playable games. Horizon Zero Dawn is listed as one of the playable titles, so you can expect hands-on impressions from us at some point on Saturday, as well as new looks at Gran Turismo Sport, Ace Combat 7, and what appears to be our first taste of next year's MLB The Show.

Much of this news will likely be sorted early Saturday morning during Sony's PlayStation Showcase, kicking off at 10 a.m. PT. Again, we'll be rounding up all of the news from this presentation, should you not catch it live. We'll also be reporting on the Capcom Cup, which gets underway at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
