What To Watch This Weekend: Speedruns, Street Fighter, And Counter-Strike

by Suriel Vazquez on Sep 17, 2016 at 06:30 AM

It's an admittedly light weekend for streaming events (you can, of course, always catch something on Twitch if you look hard enough). But that doesn't mean the events that are going on this weekend aren't going to be fun to watch.

After last week's Starladder Season 2 Finals, this week the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive community will be tuning into the latest tournament in the Dreamhack ZOWIE series, this time taking place in Bucharest, Romania. Teams will fight for a total prize pool of $100,000, with first place taking home $50,000. (Stream / Schedule)

If you want to watch some high-level Street Fighter V, You can watch Japan Cup 2016, which will have a number of prominent players (including Daigo Umehara and Justin Wong) in attendance. (Schedule / Stream). If you want something on a more local time zone, You can watch either Fighting Fest (Stream / Schedule) Or Thunderstruck (Stream / Schedule)

There's a big lull in major speedrunning events between Games Done Quick marathons, but if want to get a quick fix of people beating games faster than you can, check out the Speedrunning Expo this weekend. (Stream / Schedule)

Finally, we have the Heroes of the Storm Bloodlust tournament, which has some of the biggest teams in the game fighting for the top prize this weekend. (Stream / Schedule)

That's it for this week! If you know of any tournaments going on next weekend you'd like us to cover, let us know in the comments.
