Zelda Walks Away With Top Honors In This Year's Gamescom Awards

The winners of this year's Gamescom awards have just been announced, and Nintendo's most anticipated Wii U title continues to impress. Read on to find out what other games took home awards.

While Gamescom's official awards contain the usual staples such as best RPG, multiplayer game, etc., there are some peculiarities with the international awards. For instance, Sony's PS4 exclusive Horizon Zero Dawn won for Best Preview/Vision (which presumably relies more on the vision half of the equation, as all of the games at the show are previews), yet didn't win Best PlayStation 4 Game, which instead went to Ubisoft's multiplatform melee game, For Honor. Even more curiously, Steep won the show's Best Sports Game award, while the Best Simulation award went to...NBA 2K17.

While some of the genre classifications may leave us scratching our heads, the Gamescom awards round up a wide host of promising titles. Here's the full breakdown of the show's winners:
