Pokémon Go Player Claims He Hit Level Cap Using Bot
Pokémon Go player Ra1nDr0pz has laid claim to being the first player in the world to hit the game's level 40 cap. Up until now the feat has seemed impossible, given how slow leveling is.
And, as it turns out, the accomplishment very well might be out of reach right now. Ra1nDr0pz, who goes by the name Problemz on Reddit, posted an image of his achievement on the forum (which you can see below), but later revealed he cheated and used a bot to max out his character level. He's asked Niantic to delete his account, and said he didn't partake in any gym battles, saying "I dont want to take anyone of the fun out of this game. If you do PVP (no matter which game) play legit or don't play."
If this level 40 claim is true, Problemz says players need to farm five million experience points to move from level 39 to 40. Progression from level zero to 40 requires players earn 20 million XP. This mirrors data mined information we reported on over the weekend.
Using the bot, Problemz says he was earning 280,000 XP an hour, on average. He used a total of 131 Lucky Eggs to double the XP during the leveling process.
Problemz refuses to sell the account, despite numerous people asking if they could purchase it from him. He also won't reveal any details about the bot he used. The images above and below are from Problemz account, and show just how big his Pokémon got at the end of his play time.
Our Take
Given how greatly the XP increases for each level in Pokémon Go, Niantic
clearly envisions players sticking with this game for years. Will it have the content to back it up? That's the big question on everyone's mind, and the radio silence on updates from Ninantic at this point are worrying, although the trailer makes it look like we will at least get trading and some form of a raid in the future.
