Weekend Warrior – Three Dollar Bill, Y’all

by Blake Hester on Jul 15, 2016 at 02:00 PM

Alright, partner. Keep on rollin’ baby. You know what time it is. Throw your hands up, Game Informer community. Move in, now move out, hands up, now hands down. Back up, back up, tell me what you’re going to do now. Breath in, now breath out, hands up, now hands down. Back up, back up, tell me what you’re going to do now. It’s Weekend Warrior time.

Kyle Hilliard (@KyleMHilliard) – It’s gotten away from me thanks to magazine deadlines and other distractions, but I would like to finish up Quantum Break this weekend. Otherwise, my family will be going on assorted Pokémon walks, and I would like to sneak a Ghostbusters viewing in there somewhere. I bet I will eat a cheeseburger at some point. No promises on that last bit, though.

Brian Shea (@BrianPShea) – Like the rest of the world, I’ll be playing Pokémon Go this weekend. Having polished off Twilight Princess HD last weekend, I’m kind of in between games. I’ve been playing some shorter titles lately; I just finished Limbo and Inside. I recently dove into Badland: Game of the Year Edition on Xbox One and I’m absolutely loving it. I missed playing it when it was big on phones and tablets. I’ll continue playing that, probably sprinkle in some Overwatch, and maybe jump back into my Link to the Past playthrough. Who knows? Maybe even some Dangerous Golf and Rock Band 4.

Leo Vader (@leovader) –  This weekend I'll be playing Slime Rancher for just one more hour, just another few minutes, okay only until the next in-game day, okay just until I harvest these plorts, alright I'll just explore this new area a bit, oh whoops I'm 90 years old and dead. You know how it goes.

Jenifer Vinson (@JenMarie_Vinson) – I’m going to a few different Pokémon Go events around the cities. Gotta hatch them eggs. I still remain convinced that 10km eggs are a myth. I haven’t seen a single one yet. I finally broke down and bought a 3DS as well, so I’ve been playing Pokémon X once I can’t PoGo anymore. AND NOW YOU ALL KNOW I’VE NEVER HAD A 10K EGG.

Haley MacLean (@haleyfaxer) –This weekend I plan on continuing the Overwatch train and checking out some new indies to play. I downloaded Hohokum last night and want to poke around that world a little more. It was relaxing as hell when I played it at 2AM last night, and I'm eager to see if that was because of the game itself or because I was extremely sleep deprived.

Blake Hester (Hates Twitter, hates fun) – This weekend me and Gerry Rivers and going to drink some wine and listen to Metallica.

Elise Favis (@elisefavis) – I'll be exploring Minneapolis to see what kind of Pokemon hang out here (my first impressions are that there are too many Drowzees), and I'd really like to jump back into The Witcher 3's Blood and Wine. I was thoroughly enjoying the expansion but then got way too busy with moving.

Javy Gwaltney (@Hurdyiv) – My folks are gonna be in town so I’ll be spending some time with them while also playing Radiant Historia, which fellow editor Joe Juba is forcing me to play at swordpoint. Also: PREACHER.

Dan Tack (@dantack) – This weekend I’ll be playing Pokémon Go, attempting to get 20-30 miles in before the heat hits next week and threatens to put my gaming sessions back indoors. Pokémon Go has changed the Tack menu somewhat, as I don’t really have the luxury of preparing a red wine reduction or garlic-butter infused creations while I’m traveling around town, and honestly, those little protein bars and stuff like that have never really resonated with me. With that in mind, I’m hoping to be able to have the time to prepare some serious gaming meals after a long day out catching Blastoise, Dragonite, Gengar, and Snorlax.

I’m looking forward to enjoying what will probably be the last chicken biscuit creation before the summer really hits. While I love loading things up with jalapenos, they don’t sit well in 90+ degree heat, even if the buttery biscuit shell melts in your mouth and the breakapart chicken has just a hint of butter parmesan goodness. So I think we’ll be fixing up the last of those this weekend and using them as a pre or post walk snack.

As tradition dictates, it wouldn’t be the weekend without a burger. This weekend’s flavors will consist of double Wagyu beef patties, swiss, mozzarella, stone ground coarse mustard, spicy pickles, a smidgen of brisket, fried egg on top with two strips of crispy bacon, and a garlic butter brushing.

The next one might throw some people off. Chicken wings. Okay, so you’re onboard, everyone loves chicken wings. Okay stay with me here. Double fried. Yep, you fry them up twice. And get this. I’m not talking buffalo, garlic, teriyaki or whatever here. We’re doing cucumber infused wings here. This could end up being a terrible thing, but I have high hopes that they rock it out hard, especially with the Tack classic double fry.

And we can’t just have everything on the grill. Check this one out. We’re going hard in the paint with a classic pizza and some fresh flavors. Prosciutto, tomatoes, goat cheese, mozzarella on thin crust with spicy salami and get this, melted in habanero cheddar for a signature kick that will accent the other classic flavors. I’m going to commit a crime by adding adobo chicken to one half of that pie too,  just because I can.

All the walking and Pokémon catching will allow me a little bit of guilty pleasure at the end of the weekend, a capper if you will. We’re talking a Sicilian-style gelato, brioche style. Nothing better than finishing off a glorious weekend of Shellders, Dewgongs, and Haunters than with one of these delicious treats.

Ben Hanson (@yozetty) – This weekend I’m hoping to finish off the second half of Inside and understand what all the hype is about. Other than that, I’m going to cruise “Victory Road” here in Minneapolis and catch some Grade-A Pokémon. I just love it. Have a good weekend!
