Reminder: Hitman Beta Begins On PlayStation 4 Today With Prologue Mission

by Mike Futter on Feb 12, 2016 at 04:19 AM

This is your friendly reminder that Square Enix’s next Hitman goes into closed beta today. The test runs this weekend on PlayStation 4.

In order to get access, you’ll either need a pre-order or a code from another source (Square Enix and IO Interactive have been dropping them via social media). The test runs through Monday, February 15 at 2 a.m. Pacific / 5 a.m. Eastern. The whole thing begins anew next weekend for PC players.

The beta consists of a prologue mission that takes 20 years before the main events. It coincides with Agent 47’s introduction to the ICA in the form of two training hits offering players flexibility in their execution.

The prologue will also be the first episode released when the game arrives on March 11. Both the starter version and the full season are available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

For more, check out our coverage of how the episodic model will play out and what you can get for pre-ordering.

Our Take
While we know that Hitman will feature some online components, Square Enix hasn’t explicitly detailed what the beta will be testing. Once we dive in, we’ll have a better idea if leaderboards or other connected features are in play.
