‘Vault 81 Residents Would Not Dismember Correctly’ And Other Fallout 4 Patch 1.3 Notes

by Mike Futter on Feb 09, 2016 at 06:10 AM

Fallout 4 has a new patch for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 users. Among other things, it increases the object fading distance (see below). This creates a more complete landscape that reduces the noticeable pop-in effect of items that are farther away.

The 1.3 update also fixes a number of mission-related issues. Of note are a number of quest fixes. Oh, and if you were disappointed by the way Vault 81 residents dismember, they now do that “correctly.” No, we’re not sure what that means either, but it sounds important.

The patch also improves a number of other gameplay items. Perks like Big Leagues and Aquaboy now calculate correctly. Robotics expert is now usable in combat. There are also a number of general stability tweaks.

You can read the full patch notes here. You can also catch up with our review of Fallout 4.

Our Take
The object fading fix makes a big difference (as evidenced in the tweet embedded above). I’m eager to hear about official mod support across platforms, but it’s smart of Bethesda to get these things ironed out first.
