Xbox One Temporarily Dropping Its Price For Black Friday Weekend

by Brian Shea on Nov 19, 2015 at 11:00 PM

Microsoft will be temporarily slashing the prices on its various Xbox One console options over the weekend of Thanksgiving and Black Friday through Cyber Monday. From Thursday, November 26 through Monday, November 30, those looking to pick up an Xbox One console will be able to do so starting at $299 – the lowest ever offered by Microsoft.

The $299 deal is the price point for the basic Xbox One console, but several Xbox One bundles will also receive discounts during this time frame. If you're looking to pick up any of the following bundles during that weekend, you'll save $50 off of the standard price.

  • Xbox One Limited Edition Halo 5: Guardians Bundle
  • Xbox One Elite Bundle
  • Xbox One 1TB Holiday Bundle
  • Xbox One Gears of War: Ultimate Edition Bundle
  • Xbox One Rise of the Tomb Raider Bundle
  • Xbox One The Lego Movie Video Game Bundle
  • Xbox One Special Edition Gears of War Bundle
  • Xbox One with Kinect Bundle
  • Xbox One Fallout 4 Bundle
  • Xbox One Limited Edition Forza Motorsport 6 Console
  • Xbox One Madden NFL 16 Bundle
  • Xbox One FIFA 16 1TB Bundle

The deals mentioned in this article are good on both online and in-store purchases. Microsoft also unveiled several other Black Friday weekend deals, including 1,000 pieces of 10 cent content available on the Windows 10 universal store, deals on the Microsoft Lumia 950 XL, the Surface Pro 3, and various PCs, and various retailer-specific deals on different PCs. The deals start on Thanksgiving and run through the following Monday.

Our Take
This is a smart move by Xbox. The Xbox One has trailed PlayStation 4 in terms of sales the vast majority of months since the two consoles launched in 2013, so an aggressive push like this to try and give it the edge can only work in Microsoft's favor. In addition, this is a great way to raise awareness for the system, as Xbox has the clear advantage when it comes to big-name exclusive titles launching in the fall and winter months.
