Minecraft, GTA, And Five Nights At Freddy's Continue To Dominate Viewership Numbers On YouTube

by Brian Shea on May 18, 2015 at 03:58 PM

Just as they did the month before, Minecraft, Grand Theft Auto, and Five Nights at Freddy's were the most viewed video game franchises on YouTube in April 2015. While the top five was rounded out by familiar franchises Call of Duty and League of Legends, some new entrants made their way into the top 20.

Thanks to the launch of Mortal Kombat X last month, the franchise made the biggest jump in the standings, while Battlefield and World of Tanks were the biggest losers in terms of franchises still on the charts. Several franchises also fell off of the charts entirely, however, including Halo, DayZ, and Just Dance.

The following chart provided by Octoly details the top 20 and gives some insight into the most viewed franchises of April 2015. If you'd like to learn more about the top 20 for April 2015, you can click here to head to Newzoo.

Our Take
Given Minecraft's community and the heists going live on Grand Theft Auto V, it's no surprise that they continued to put all other games to shame in terms of viewership. Five Nights at Freddy's also continues to be a hot, and it should also be no surprise to see League of Legends and Call of Duty near the top.
