Sega Hires Media Guru Evan Cholfin To Adapt Games For Film And TV
Sega is looking to broaden it's entertainment reach and has hired former Break Media executive Evan Cholfin to help bring a selection of it's hottest properties to the golden and silver screens. Does this mean we'll see a Sonic the Hedgehog film soon? Probably not, but we might get a Streets of Rage or Shinobi show.
Cholfin was director of entertainment development at Break Media where he produced TV and digital content, including the thriller Higher Power. Now he'll be head of development and production at Stories International, a joint venture between Sega and the advertising agency Hakuhodo DY Group.
According to Variety, Cholfin will have access to properties like Altered Beast, Streets of Rage, Shinobi, Rise of Nightmares, Virtua Fighter, Golden Axe, and Crazy Taxi. Stories International is currently planning to create English-language live action and animated spinoffs of a number of these properties.

Our Take
I have trouble getting excited about this. I love many of Sega's games, but I've never played one and though, "boy I can't wait for the movie!" That said, I love ninjas, so I'd be happy if Stories International surprised me with some great Sega-related content. It's a little strange the Sonic wasn't included in the deal, but that properties must be licensed elsewhere.
