Artists' Homages To Classic PS1 Games Are Stunning

by Jason Dafnis on Dec 02, 2014 at 06:50 AM

Game Art HQ is home to a lot of artists and gamers, and those two loves intersect in the site’s PlayStation 20th Anniversary Tribute. Site members collaborated to produce a gallery of artwork based on more than 40 games released between 1995 and 2002.

Resident Evil, Crash Bandicoot, Kowloon’s Gate, Klonoa, and Final Fantasy are just a few of the games remembered by the 50 artists who contributed to the gallery. Each piece in the collection is accompanied by a word from the artist about their experience with their game of choice. Styles range from comical to realistic, with mediums from paint to pencil to digital.

Check out the whole gallery, including a papercraft-style Final Fantasy IX tribute (my personal favorite), at Game Art HQ's gallery. If game-inspired art bristles your brush, maybe you’ll enjoy some realistic Pokémon art to celebrate the releases of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.

Thanks to Reinhold Hoffman for the news tip!
