Nintendo Releasing Clear 2DS Systems Just In Time For The Holidays

by Matthew Stolpe on Nov 11, 2014 at 09:41 AM

This holiday season Nintendo is widening their selection of Nintendo 2DS systems. The new Crystal Red and Crystal Blue 2DS offer clear, neon-colored variations on the on the company’s hallmark portable system.

As you can see from the images, these see-through 2DSs harken back to the nostalgic days of the clear Game Boy Pocket and Game Boy Color. Their color scheme also happens to match that of Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, which launch on the same date as the systems.

The Crystal Red and Crystal Blue Nintendo 2DS systems will be available starting November 21 for $99.99 each.

Our Take
While I’m saving up my money for the release of the New Nintendo 3DS, I certainly see the appeal of these new 2DS models. The fact that they’re color coded with the new Pokémon rereleases makes them a great combo for parents looking to introduce their kids to the series with style.
