It's octopus versus squid in Splatoon's single-player component.

When the game was unveiled at E3, all Nintendo was willing to talk about was the game's multiplayer modes, and it wouldn't even confirm if there weer plans for a single-player game. Today. during a Nintendo Direct, Nintendo showcase some of the game's single-player action.

The squid are fighting enemy octopus, who look partially electronic. The video showcased squid (the good guys) spraying paint and navigating large moving structures, using their ability to swim in paint to leap to new areas. There were also geysers of paint and a fan which looked like it was shooting paint everywhere as well.

Splatoon is coming to Wii U the second fiscal quarter of 2015.
