Weekend Warrior 10/31/2014

by Sam Stewart on Oct 31, 2014 at 02:00 PM

Happy Halloween readers! Many of the editors plan on taking part in holiday festivities over the weekend, but when they have some freetime many of them plan to dive into Bayonetta 2, Shadow of Mordor, Sunset Overdrive, and the Evolve Alpha. What are your plans for the weekend? Let us know in the comments below!

Jeff Cork: This weekend, I'm going to try to divide my time between Sunset Overdrive and Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. I saw that idiot Dan Ryckert had a pretty good score on one of the new Pinball FX South Park tables, so I may have to spend a few minutes knocking him down to second place on my leaderboards, too. And, if that's enough, my kids and I might dig in and play some Skylanders. I'm getting tired just thinking of it. Life is tough.

Jeff Marchiafava: I am still rocking Shadow of Mordor, which is quickly becoming a game-of-the-year contender for me. I killed the first couple warchiefs and pulled down a big statue, so now…well, actually I have no idea what’s going on – I’m just really enjoying lopping off orc heads. I may do a couple more daily runs in Spelunky, which is the perfect time filler when you’ve only got 10 minutes to devote to gaming.

Ben Hanson: This weekend I think I'm going to a giant dinosaur puppet show, a Halloween party or two, and I'll try to squeeze some gaming into the mix. I will most likely continue to play Bayonetta 2, the game is getting ridiculous praise but I'm not sure if the stylish-action genre is my cup of tea. Other than that I'm going to play some of the Evolve alpah on my PS4. That game is one of my most-anticipated so I'm looking forward to playing it in the comfort of my own home. Have a good weekend!

Tim Turi: Talion’s quest for vengeance in Mordor is complete, and now I turn my gaze onto Bayonetta 2. I’ve already played the first several chapters and I’m already in love. The smooth combat, insane moments (fighting on fighter jets!), and incredibly pacing made it difficult for me to put down. Other than that, both Halloween and my birthday happen this weekend, so it’s going to be a fun one for sure.

Matt Kato: I hope to dip into the Evolve alpha some more and refine my monster technique as well as level up my weapon mastery so I can get new hunter characters. I also just purchased X-Wing at gog.com, but I need to find some sort of flight stick/controller setup for my PC laptop to really play it. I haven't touched Shadow of Mordor in a little while, so I'd be remiss if I didn't go back and kill some orcs this weekend as well.

Kyle Hilliard: It's Halloween so my family is dressing up as the Belcher family from Bob's Burgers and demanding people give us candy. Other than that, I am working on a review game and hope to dive into either Lords of the Fallen, The Evil Within, or Sunset Overdrive.

Sam Stewart: After finishing Bayonetta 2 last weekend I’m not sure what my next gaming target will be. I have been meaning to replay EarthBound, so I might end up marathoning some of that on the Wii U Virtual Console. If not, I’ll probably just play a bunch of Dota 2. I’ve seen Necrophos getting a lot of play in pros lately and have been meaning to try him out.
