[Update] PSA: PlayStation Network Coming Back Online

by Mike Futter on Oct 16, 2014 at 03:59 PM

Update, 9:59 p.m. Eastern: PlayStation Network's status page shows the network as being online, and many are reporting being able to sign online without issue,

If you're still experiencing issues, Sony suggests power cycling your console (turning off the system, unplugging it for a few seconds, and turning it back on) and trying to sign in again.

Update, 5:26 p.m. Eastern: Sony's official PlayStation Support Twitter account has further acknowledged that some users are having problems. "We're aware some of you are unable to connect to the PSN," the company writes. "Thanks for your patience as we investigate."

Original Story, 4:17 p.m. Eastern:

If you’re having trouble logging into the PlayStation Network or playing online, you aren’t alone. Users have reported and we have confirmed that the PSN is not fully operational right now.

According to the PlayStation Network support site, the service is showing as “Offline.” We are unable to view our friends list, send messages, or play online, but the PlayStation Store and downloading seems to be working fine.

We’ve reached out to Sony for more information. We’ll update should we receive a response.
