Minecraft For Xbox One Getting Retail Release

by Ben Reeves on Sep 30, 2014 at 12:59 PM

You might already have Minecraft on your PC, Xbox 360, Vita, mobile phone, GPS device, or microwave, but if you want to add a Minecraft box to your shelf of Xbox One titles then you'll only have to wait a little longer for the release.

Minecraft Xbox One Edition officially released for download on September 5, but if you're the kind of gamer who likes to have a physical case for all their games so you can look at them on your shelf like trophies, then you might be interested in the retail release of Minecraft for Xbox One. The game officially hits retail stores on November 18 for $19.99. Play areas in the Xbox One edition of Minecraft are up to 36 times larger than they were on the 360, and players can transfer their Xbox 360 creations and most of their downloadable content to the Xbox One.

Our Take
It is interesting to note that the retail release is some time after the digital release. It's also important to keep in mind that fans who already own Minecraft on 360 can upgrade to the digital Xbox One version for only $4.99, so you might not need that $20 retail box after all.
