Test Out The Upcoming Pokémon Bank And Transporter For a Free Pokémon

by Jeff Cork on Dec 18, 2013 at 03:12 AM

Nintendo is rolling out a pair of Pokémon apps in a few weeks, allowing players to store thousands of Pokémon and import them from previous games. If you're not sold on the idea of spending $4.99 for an annual subscription, Nintendo is hoping a 30-day trial might change your mind.

The free trial will be available from when Pokémon Bank and Poké Transporter go live on December 27, through January 31. Players who download the demo will also get the rare Pokémon Celebi at no cost, regardless of whether they choose to sign up for continued service.

For more information on the apps, check out our previous story.

Note: This story has been updated to reflect the correct scheduled release date of December 27. Game Informer apologizes for the error.

Our Take
I can't say whether or not the $4.99 is justified, but it's hard to argue with getting a free Pokémon. I always liked it the few times this guy would pop up in Smash Bros., and having him on my 3DS is even better.
