Microsoft Announces First Wave Of Xbox One Entertainment Apps
Yesterday, we had the chance to speak with Microsoft’s Albert Penello about the Xbox One dashboard. During our conversation, he confirmed that the entertainment app offerings won’t be pre-loaded on your console, and users will be able to choose which to install. Now we have the list of which will be available on November 22.
The list varies depending on which territory you’re in, but here’s the rundown for the United States:

- Crackle
- CWTV
- ESPN
- FOX NOW
- FXNOW
- HBO GO (coming soon)
- Hulu Plus
- Machinima
- MUZU TV
- Netflix
- Redbox Instant by Verizon
- Target Ticket
- TED
- The NFL on Xbox One
- Twitch
- Univision Deportes
- Verizon FiOS TV
- VUDU
In addition, every territory will have access to a variety of first party apps. These include Xbox Fitness, Xbox Video, Xbox Music, Internet Explorer, SkyDrive, Skype, and Upload.

Our Take
It’s crucial that Microsoft launch with the tentpole apps like Netflix, Hulu Plus, and ESPN. The others are just an added bonus. As a FiOS customer, I’m interested to see if that app has improved or if I’ll have a use for it given the more encompassing “Watch TV” feature.
