MLB.TV Launches On Xbox Live Today

by Andrew Reiner on Mar 27, 2012 at 05:41 AM

Glorious day, baseball fans! You can now watch Major League Baseball's poorly planned season opener on Xbox Live! If you're awake at 6 AM ET, you can catch the first game of the season pitting the Seattle Mariners against the Oakland Athletics. The reason for the absurdly early time? The game is being played in Japan. This is how the season begins, Bud Selig? Really?

If you're interested in the MLB.TV app, there's one thing you need to know: You cannot watch local market games. I'm a Cubs fan who lives in Minnesota. This app (which I primarily use on my iPad) has changed my life. I play games on my TV and watch baseball around the clock on my iPad. You can find all of the subscription models here. At it's lowest cost, you're looking at $19.99 a month or $109.99 for the year.

The Xbox app offers a few unique features like the ability to watch two games at once via split-screen, and also use Kinect's voice and motion commands to rewind, pause, and watch highlights. All of the games will be aired in HD.
