Play On Unsanctioned Battlefield 3 Beta Servers, Face The Ban Hammer

by Matt Bertz on Oct 03, 2011 at 08:44 AM

DICE is taking drastic measures to keep all the beta game sessions under its protective watch.

On the Battlelog forums, a DICE associate producers who goes by the handle Bazajaytee warns that rogue PC players could get their Origin accounts banned if they play the beta on unofficial servers.

"We are aware that a number of servers have appeared and are running game modes and player counts that have not currently been seen," he writes. "Please try to remain on official servers. Please avoid temptation and remain on these official servers while we work to have these servers dealt with. Playing on those servers can cause your account to become compromised, stats to be altered or other issues to arise which may lead to having your account banned by EA. If your account gets banned it does mean any EA game you have on your account would also be unavailable."

Stern words indeed.

The beta runs until October 10. When it ends, you'll have to wait 15 days to play the retail release on PC, PlayStation 3, or Xbox 360.
