YouTube Wants To Create "TV Experience" For Home Consoles

by Matt Helgeson on Feb 17, 2011 at 02:40 PM

YouTube, the wildly popular Internet video site, has an eye on expanding its presence on home video game consoles, according to a recent job posting. The posting, for a Game Console Software Engineer, seeks individuals with the qualifications to "Build the next generation game-console-based TV experience with You Tube video content."

Other responsibilities include "Deliver a compelling lean back experience with monetization and e-commerce offerings (ie, pay-per-stream, ads)" and "Integrate and optimize with distribution channels and devices including all major game platforms," so it's pretty clear that the Google-owned site is eyeing some of the action that's been happening with its competitor Hulu's pay services on home consoles.
