Ion Unveils New Premium Drum Kit Compatible With Rock Band 3's Pro Mode

by Matt Helgeson on Jul 02, 2010 at 10:40 AM

Ion has won praise from hardcore music gamers for its well-built (and costly) Rock Band peripherals. Today, it announced the Drum Rocker Pro Official Premium Drum Set, a new model aimed for gamers interested in Rock Band 3's ultra-challenging new Rock Band Pro mode, which requires gamers to literally hit every beat and cymbal hit on the original master tracks. It's "Pro Official Premium", so you know that it must be pretty awesome. It's also compatible with all previously released version of Rock Band, including the recent Green Day: Rock Band.

The unit utilizes Ion's heavily constructed and quiet drum pads and a new "Pro Pedal", which the company claims is the most high quality video game drum pedal to date. The unit is also compatible with Alesis drum machine modules, meaning that you can easily converted into a fully funtional synth drum kit.

Interestingly, this photo shows the unit outfitted with two drum pedals, one of which we assume is for the high hat pedal or perhaps a double kick pedal set-up.

No price point for the unit was released, but expect it to be fairly expensive given the unit's construction quality. The Drum Rocker Pro Official Premium will be available in stores for the 2010 holiday season for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii.
