Left 4 Dead Mod "Dead By Dawn" Hitting Halloween
The release of Left 4 Dead 2 may be only a little over a month away,
but if you’re anything like me, the zombie apocalypse can’t come any
sooner. For those of you with a passion for Left 4 Dead and a penchant
for great zombie flicks, a group of dedicated PC modders has something to curb your impatience.
The
new scenario, “Dead By Dawn,” takes place in the Crossroads Mall
featured in the 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead. The labor of love has
been in production since 2005 using Half-Life 2 mod tools, with video
game industry veterans helping the process. The mod even garnered
support from Valve, who sent the crew an audio clip of Francis saying
“I hate malls.” Ah, but Francis… do they not sell vests in malls?
The
modders even incorporated the bossy head of Crossroads Mall security,
CJ. He’ll be around to bark commands at the survivors, be an ass, and
keep the “f*cking nursery school” in order.
Dead By Dawn is
coming out this Halloween, hell or high water. “We promised you a
Halloween release date, a Halloween release date is what your going to
get” reads the recent blog post. It’s awesome seeing so much hard work
and enthusiasm go into the project. I definitely can’t wait to step
foot in the memorable mall with shotgun in hand.
