Blog Herding – The Best Blogs Of The Community (December 3, 2015)
I'm surprised you all had time to write over the holiday, but I'm thankful that you did. We've a great mixture of blogs this week. Thanks a bunch, Game Informer community! [excerpt]
Community Blogs For November 26 – December 2:
How
to Not Survive in Fallout 4
Kyle Wadsworth takes readers on an adventure in Fallout 4. One about
dying. Like, a lot, just so we can see what it looks like to die. I died
immediately in the game because I didn't know I could use a different gun in my
Iron Man suit, prompting me to melee the first Deathclaw I ran into. I lost. I
lost hard.
The
Curious Case of Nintendo's Badge Arcade
When MightyMagikarp started writing about Nintendo Badge Arcade, I had no idea
what was going on. I have never even heard of this. But then again, I'm a bit
out of the gaming loop lately. I don't want to ruin anything, but you should
all read about more Nintendo zaniness in this blog. I am checking this out
ASAP.

Community Writing Challenge: What I'm
Thankful For And Will Always Be
This blog is a poem that GerardoExber wrote. It's very special, especially with
lines revealing how Ocarina of Time began our blogger's quest to learn English.
This is a very heartfelt and awesome poem. Thank you for reading Game Informer
and being a part of the community, Gerardo!
What Are You Thankful for in Gaming?
Blogger Craigaleg begins his blog with one sweet Legend of Zelda image (how
much do you all love Zelda?). It sets the tone for a lengthy blog that reveals
how this gamer enjoys variety in gaming, online games, and more. And though I
love Steam sales, I'm in the same boat: I just don't play the games I buy from
the platform.
What I'm Thankful For: Depression, Games,
and Game Informer
Everyone who partook in this week's writing challenge approached it from a
different angle, including Thomas Loughney. In his blog he writes about some
dark times. That's okay; that's life. I'm glad that he did, as it shines a light
on what gaming does for different people.
Thanksgaming!
Our stalwart blogger Rebekah Lang wrote about Borderlands. Because Borderlands.
Seriously – Borderlands is quite possibly the best cooperative game ever. But
like I wrote last week: Goof Troop was made and it's only second best. Anyway.
As an added bonus, we get to hear about how much Lang loves stuffing. I nearly
blacked out from the awesomeness of this blog. Stuffing and Borderlands for life.
Community Reviews:
Devil's Third is a bad game
The headline says it all, but you should all give Katzenbalger's blog a read.
It's a dense look at what makes this game – one that could have at least been a
guilty pleasure – a mess. It's a shame, but sometimes that's how the cookie
crumbles. Or the coder codes. Or... just, never mind.
Star Wars Battlefront: Review
Alto1st hits on a lot of points in his review on the way to giving the new Star
Wars game a great score. Is it perfect? Not in the slightest. But if you have
friends, love Star Wars, and love how shiny the game looks, there are worse
things in life than wielding a lightsaber and going to town on some
Stormtroopers.
Community Writing Challenge:
News broke recently that Capcom may make a new Onimusha game. With that news out in the open, what long-dormant PlayStation 2-era series would you like to see make a triumphant return? I love and miss Onimusha, though it did fall from grace after the third main iteration. I'd love to see another Baten Kaitos, Dark Cloud, and Otogi game. Just remember to keep your picks in that generation of consoles (or PC and handheld).
Community Playdate:
I'm going to try and get some Zelda going again, so for this week's playdate I choose you, The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes. We'll be playing on Sunday at 12 p.m. CST. Newcomers and veterans are welcome. Please leave your Friend Code in the comments and let me know if you'd like to play. We'll keep players updated throughout the play session via this post's comments. If I have zero responses by Saturday evening, I'll just keep binging on Arrow on Sunday. Don't judge me. I've already finished Daredevil, Jessica Jones, The Flash, Gotham...okay, go ahead and judge me.
I hope you enjoy the blogs! Please contact me via my Game Informer page or on Twitter at @LouisGarcia12 with any blog news or playdate suggestions.
