Nintendo Reveals Super Smash Bros.' Redesigned Ray Gun

The Ray Gun has appeared in all three of the prior Smash Bros. game, but for the upcoming Wii U and 3DS iteration, the gun has received its most drastic redesign.

Super Smash Bros. director, Masahiro Sakurai, said of the new ray gun in a post on the Miiverse, "The Smash Bros. mark appears backward because it acts like a stamp. We design the Ray Gun carefully each time to ensure it doesn't look like a real gun."

Every day new images appear on the Super Smash Bros. website, and we share the images that add new details. Head here to learn about Marth's return, Sonic, and the other Wii Fit Trainer.

  • Here's some Smash Bros thoughts, for the two of you that might be interested in something with a lot of words:  www.gameinformer.com/.../how-smash-bros-can-revive-wii-u-if-nintendo-is-smart-enough.aspx

  • I actually quite dig this design. The child in me wishes there was a toy of this for retail.

  • Still looks like a gun to me. But leave it to Nintendo to suck up to parents who'd rather pass the buck on companies instead of doing actual parenting. Way to go Nintendo!

  • It looks so weird.
  • I am so excited for this game! I can't wait to play it! Hopefully, I'll have a Wii U by then so that I can play both versions.

  • I like the new design waaay better.

  • Because guns are for losers. Seriously.
  • Why are they concerned about real weapons? Snake in Brawl had a FREAKING MORTAR!

  • looks cool

  • Kinda looks like it's from Ratchet and Clank.

  • So they censored it?

  • Cool, cool. I can't wait to play as Chrono and use this. OH WAIT...

  • Nice!

  • Looking forward this game. I can't wait to see new characters.

  • Mod

This is going to be awesome!
