The lights are on
Like the title says, this Assassin’s Creed is my favorite so far. I had played the first and I liked it. And then I got to Sequence 10 of AC III before I even played this one. I really like this game. I especially like the ability to buy armor sets and unlock Altair’s armor, something that I think AC III could have benefited from. I’m going to get ready to start AC: Brotherhood to see how it stands up to AC II. Then it is AC: Revelations from there.
The combat also seems more fluid. It doesn’t slow down and give you training wheels like AC III does when you go to counter. Plus money is no problem if you spend every florin you gain towards the Villa when you get the chance to. They literally give you all the money you need in this game if you are willing to invest in your town.
Not to mention it is a great story with a nice cliffhanger ending...well cliffhanger if you have no idea what happens in the later installments...unlike me. I kind of ruined it for myself researching the games before AC III came out.
So this is my recommendation to you readers. Buy/rent/somehow play this game. If you are new to the Assassin’s Creed universe, play Assassin’s Creed. You can find it pretty cheap now. The game is a little tedious, but it will open you up to to the series as well as Desmond’s eventual fate of being linked to Ezio Auditore da Firenze.
One last thing. You will run into some snags with the running and jumping mechanics, which is why this received a 9 from me. Lots of time cursing Ezio for not jumping to a platform 3 feet in front of him and instead choosing to either just fall or jump to the side to his eventual death.
