The lights are on
Namco Bandai announced Tales of Zestiria earlier this month, and now the game's first Japanese trailer is online.
The art style hasn't changed much, but there seems to be higher level of quality in the game's animation compared to previous Tales games. We're still waiting for the release of Tales of Xillia 2 here in North America, and Zestiria is planned for release in 2015. Of the three Tales games I've bought, Graces F, Xillia, and Abyss, Xillia is the only one I've managed to make it all the way through. The other two just haven't held my interest very well. This and Xillia-2 both have my attention now though.
Well I thought Tales of Xillia 2 and DArk Souls 2 would be my last games for the PS3. While I would rather have this game come out to the PS4, I'm still getting this game for the PS3. I love the Tales series.
Can't wait for the game to come out.
Cool! I'm really glad they're making more Tales games and that they're being released in the U.S. as well.
I'm quite looking forward to this. It looks rad; I adore Xillia, but returning to the straighter fantasy of older Tales games (Dragons make everything better!) will be nice. Also, the real-time in-field combat should be a fresh change of pace for the series too.
But man, for the series' PS4 debut, I hope they upgrade things a bit. Like how Shinji Mikami can pop in on other Zenimax studios and learn id Tech 5, I'd love to see Namco's Tales studio open some communications with a western crpg dev - like, say, CD Projekt - just to learn a thing or two about next gen tech. If Tales Team built a PS4 RPG that could compare with The Witcher 3 & Cyberpunk 2077 in terms of tech base, that'd be one amazing game.
That first pic had me somewhat thinking of Sora from KH. Regardless it doesn't look bad. I hope they actually have an option of just english audio subtitles to the original Japanese voice track. I am one of the few that can't stand watching or playing Japanime/Jrpgs (can't generally stand them regardless) in english dubs. Just feels so out of character no matter how good of a job they do.
symphonia, xillia 2 and this. AH YES. MORE!
Hmm, the game-play looks like it's changed a bit for Xilla. It looks a lot more dynamic.
2014 is a great year for RPGs. Tales of Symphonia Chronicles, Tales of Xillia 2, FF X/X-2 HD, Witcher 3 and Dragon Age: Inquisition. 2015 is going to be great too. Tales of Zestiria and Persona 5.
