Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus

New "Traditional" Single-Player Ratchet & Clank Game Coming This Year

What was teased earlier today, has now been officially confirmed. Ratchet & Clank: Into The Nexus is coming exclusively to PlayStation 3 this year.

The last two Ratchet games, All 4 One and Full Frontal Assault, were experiments in the Ratchet world to a certain degree, but Insomniac says that it wants to return to the series' roots. Insomniac's community lead James Stevenson says, "It feels like the time is right to revisit Ratchet’s personal story arc," on PlayStation's blog showcasing the game.

You can check out the announcement trailer below which shows the Ratchet & Clank gameplay we are all familiar with, along with Dead Space-style anti-gravity sequences in space, as well as Portal 2-style excursion funnels.

The game will be available this holiday as a PSN downloadable game, as well as a retail release for $29.99. Right now the game is a PlayStation 3 exclusive. It's unclear if the game will release on PlayStation Vita, as well.

  • There's no such thing as too much Ratchet & Clank.

  • YES! Finally! One of my favorite series is coming back in true form.

Edit: Aw dang. Smaller game huh. Not really back to true form then. Oh well, I'll take it anyways.
  • Why would it only be 29.99?....Duh nvm
  • This was great news, FOUR hours ago when the Playstation Blog confirmed it. Insomniac games don't sell well at Gamestop, or what? Just kidding about the Gamestop deal, but sometimes it's crazy how far behind you guys are.

  • I am so pumped for this!

  • Yes!!!!

Im hoping they make more for the ps4 but this is good enough, for 30$?

Sounds short? unless they are really making it just more affortable.

  • Yes!!!!

Im hoping they make more for the ps4 but this is good enough, for 30$?

  • Yay!!!! I've got to get back into R&C series

  • Yaaytttttt. Although I think it's too soon. BUT, for $30, you can't go wrong with a traditional R&C game.
  • Woooo!!! Was not feeling those spin offs, but this is a day 1 purchase for sure :D

  • Looks rushed...

  • Yes, sweet baby Jesus, finally. FINALLY! Now all I need is a Jak IV by Naughty Dog and everything will be as it should be...a bit of Half Life 3 would be nice too.

  • I wish it was a PS4 game.

  • Yay!  Super happy!  I am really looking forward to this.

Now, if only we'd get a new 'Jak & Daxter' all would be right in the world.

  • Note to Sony; do not use the words, "Heroes Return" when teasing a game unless it's a sequel to Jak & Daxter: Lost Frontier, a'ight? Ratchet & Clank haven't GONE ANYWHERE. In the past two years, you put out Full Frontal Assault PS3, Full Frontal Assault Vita, The HD Collection, the HD port of Deadlocked (which you left off the collection for some reason), and they've featured in Playstation All Stars.

So Insomniac North Carolina is getting back to the Ratchet & Clank Future arc and gameplay (not to mention that game engine; the super stylized one used for All 4 One and FFA just wasn't impressive) - that's fine and all, but it is not an Earth Shattering announcement and it's not worth the hype.

Man. SOMEONE best be working on Jak 5 for PS4 right now. Don't care who. Naughty Dog, Ready at Dawn, High Impact, Sanzaru... any one of 'em will do. Ratchet & Clank is overrated. The Jak games were always more ambitious and innovative... so were the Sly games, starting with Sly Cooper 2. Ratchet is the only series of the 3 to still feature linear levels; just simple pathway-room-pathway stuff. Move onto open worlds like your fellow Playstation platformers did nearly 10 years ago, Ratchet!
  • I wonder how many people are just sitting on their money until the PS4 comes out.

  • I'm on the fence about this, but the low price point is weighing on the buy side. But it seems to be missing something that made them famous, guns that go BOOM!
Also Game Informer I think you messed up who is the Publisher. I thought SCEA would publish this, but if Insomniac has gotten big enough to publish its own stuff, then I am proud of Insomniac.
  • Aaaww I was hoping for that Jak/Ratchet game, but whatever at least it's ''traditional'' ratchet
