Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII

On A Mission From God

Straight out of the Japan Expo, Square Enix has released a new trailer for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. Now appearing in her third entry, the heroine is tasked with saving the souls the deceased.

The world has been touched by chaos, imperiling the spirits of those who have passed. Lightning believes she has been given a mission from God to save them and the world.

  • Is anyone looking forward to this? Whenever I hear people's most anticipated games this never comes up.
  • I'm not going to be paying over $15 for this game. I bought FF13 day 1 for $60, and was unimpressed (except for the graphics). I bought FF13-2 for $30 months after it was out, and again was unimpressed. Cheers to you who are into this trilogy, but I'm really not on board. Like I said, when I can find this for $15 I'll give it a spin.
  • Very interesting. I wonder at the outcome.

  • It's tough to get excited for a game in a series that a lot of people never wanted the first sequel. Add on it's the second sequel, and it's being released 4 months after next generation consoles will be released. Chalk it up Square, just keep working on KH3, and FF15.

  • I'm not gonna lie...I think this looks fun. I also really hope you truly get to beat up some of the annoying characters that have been put in this series. Fighting Noel is great as he got on my nerves very quickly, and every time I thought he was growing on me, he opened his mouth. The other trailer made it look like Snow is the main villain. Even if it just means one boss fight, to be able to smack Snow around...I can't describe it...It'll be magical, lol

I wouldn't say I'm excited though. I'll probably play this casually. Now Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy XV? I'm excited.
  • I've been playing Final Fantasy IX lately and I'm so looking forward to this game. I don't really mind people having opinions about what's good and what's not. I just go by what I enjoy and that's been the XIII universe this looks like it's setting up to be a real good ending to the games. I still thought they should have just left XIII with the ending it had in the first game, seemed to me it was pretty much a perfect ending to the game.
  • I liked FF13 well enough, but I absolutely hated the writing in 13-2. Here's hoping they've improved between that one and the newest entry.I'm not even thinking of touching this until I see some review scores, though if it reviews poorly I might pick it up once it hits the bargain bin just for a laugh.

  • She is one hot nun.

  • Lightning of Arc

  • No one in any sort of mass group in the US is looking forward to this. I haven't heard a single person say anything about this. Actually the MMO re-birth is getting more attention than this 3rd installment to FF-XIII.
  • So is Lightning now a part of the Blues Brothers? What has happened to Final Fantasy?

  • ohh snap fangs back

  • Ugh, Hope is in this game? Please let that little turd be one of the deceased.
  • Fang's back? Alright! Now I'm interested.

  • GOD I CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS GAME!!! i *** love it

  • I know they share a voice actress, but I can't help but think of Liara every time I hear Lightning speak.
  • It's very interesting that Square Enix is making God a part of their story as opposed to a fictional entity they come up with. Lightning's situation definitely emulates the story of Christ. Perhaps to make the game more appealing to a Western audience? It'll be interesting to see how many more Christian undertones there will be and where this all goes. (I'm a Christian)
  • I wonder why hope is young again.  I played both XIII titles but maybe I missed something.
