The lights are on
A new trailer showing the intro to the game (see below) reveals the final boss for Sony's upcoming fighter. Remember Polygon Man? Of course you don't. Polygon Man was originally used as the mascot for the original PlayStation pre-launch marketing strategy, but was eventually dropped entirely.
“Polygon Man was going to be this iconic brand that would talk in
various media to consumers as this kind of next-gen type spokesman," then president of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios Phil Harrison in an interview with Edge in 2009.
Surprised? Think Sony could have found a better end boss? Let us know in the comments below. We also have a complete list of the entire roster available here.
I understand why they chose him, but theres one person in my mind who would make a perfect final boss.
That, my friends, is Calypso. Twisted Metal. He can do anything.
The more I see, and especially after playing the beta, I just have less and less interest :-( Shame, as I was really looking forward to it
Should have been Kevin Butler.
I think it is a great idea. Think about it. All of the other fighters are some memorable PlayStation characters and polygon man wants to take revenge against them due to jealousy and devises a tournament to show the world he is an OG play station character.
You will die just like your father...
That's actually pretty creative, still not interested in the game, brawlers like this I find boring.
Must have NOW! :o
This could be the best trailor sony has ever put out for an exclusive title. :)
Should have been Uka Uka.
AWESOME. MUST. HAVE. NOW.!!!
I started out hating this Smash Brothers clone, but this video has sold me on the game. My favorite part was sackboy, that was so creative using the creation tool UI as his attack base. I also love the fact that this game gives you a kind of inside look at Sony at the same time. Like having the final boss be a character that was never used and only a few knew about. The very end of the trailer reminded me of MVC 3.
I think it is a perfect boss. He is all angry about not becoming the mascot, so he attacks he successful mascots.
Why put the new Dante in it tho?
They could have changed my tune on this if only they chose something a bit more appropriate? ...Like maybe Baron Aloha? Or another end-baddy from one of Sony's original IPs. But eh, I didn't expect much. This game is already a dud in every other way, I don't see them pulling out the big guns now.
Most people will get to this guy and be like "wtf is this floating head?"
And what are his attacks? Pokey poke where rams you with his face? Maybe 100 polygons where square blocks attack you
Holy crap that was awesome.
polygon man. hilarious.
