Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark

[Update] Transformers: Rise Of The Dark Spark Announced At NYC Toy Fair, Developed By Edge Of Reality

Update: High Moon Studios, the developer behind Transformers: War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron, will not be behind the Rise Of The Dark Spark. Instead, the game is being developed by Edge of Reality.

Edge of Reality worked with BioWare to develop the Wii U version of Mass Effect 3, and helped develop Dragon Age: Origins on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. According to Examiner.com, which spoke with an Activision representative at the NYC Toy Fair, the 3DS version of the game will be an entirely separate tactical RPG game developer by WayForward, which most recently developed DuckTales: Remastered.

Our Take
High Moon Studios, the developer behind Transformers: War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron, is surprisingly absent from the trailer. It appears as though it did not develop this title, but we currently don't know all the details.

  • I feel like this won't live up to the High Moon games.
  • I really hope that High Moon does turn out to be the developer for this, since the trailer did not mention any other developer.
  • Interesting. I probably wont get it, but I would if it actually turned out good.

  • This game will most likely be a cash grab movie tie in.

  • Eh, if it's half decent, maybe some noteworthy bargain bin material.

  • Looks like it blends the High Moon style of the Transformers with the new Bayformer styles, especially with Grimlock. I'm curious to see how this all turns out.

  • I haven't played a single Transformers game. Am I missing out?
  • So where's my sequel to Fall of Cybertron?
  • None of these have ever appealed to me
  • I'm going to take a stab and say that this will be an MMO-TPS type game. We have FoC Optimus, but then we have TF4 Optimus too. Movie Bumblebee is there, but no 'Cybertron' counterpart. FoC Shockwave, Soundwave, Jetfire, Incecticons, and Sideswipe all appear as well. There's also TF4 Grimlock, who seems to animate like FoC Grimlock. Then there's the faceless guy who we don't know yet. Honestly, this seems fishy. Why would they mash up characters from two completely continuities and mash them in one game. I'm waiting until more trailers and gameplay prove me otherwise.
  • ......I'm not sure how I feel about this. It looked like some parts are made by Highmoon and other parts by someone else. Maybe it's intentional? With the whole two worlds thing...
  • Why do Their character models keep switching from FoC to the models based on the Michael Bay films?
  • No High Moon, I won't play. Might check out the 3DS version though.

  • Edge of Reality made Loadout, and that game is crazy fun, so this will probably be legit.
  • Kind of a shame High Moon isn't developing this since I loved WfC and FoC. I hope this turns out to be just as good though

  • Ugh, that trailer kinda sucked. Hopefully this will be good, but it just looks pretty lame based off of that trailer.
  • i want high moon studio to make a new game, a sequel.

  • I'm more excited for the 3DS version. The fine people of WayForward are some fine developers.

  • The trailer made absolutely zero sense!!!

  • ssssssssssssssssss.........***. Damnnit why would you take off a developer behind two really solid games and give it to anyone else? Sigh.....Activision and EA....a match made in hell.
