The lights are on
Deep Silver’s Risen series has managed to combine the swashbuckling pirate life with the mystical attraction of spell-slinging. The third entry in the series, Risen 3: Titan Lords, is on track for release this August, but Deep Silver suggests that players get ready for a challenge.
Despite the heavy fantasy stylings of the new trailer (and the return of magic), the pirate motif isn’t completely gone. The title features three different guilds with which players can align themselves, a new combat system with improved animations, and a more diverse set of environments.
Risen 3 will be out on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on August 12, 2014.
I enjoyed Risen 1, but any faults with the game continued to Risen 2 and were never addressed. I'll hold off on Risen 3 until there's a decent sale.
If its a lot better than Risen 2 it should be pretty good
I really despise cinematic trailers. Here's hoping they'll go back to their (Gothic) roots and forget the ordeal that was Risen 2.
Given the large amount of Day 1 DLC that Risen 2 had, I vowed to not buy it, nor will I purchase this because I expect the same greedy bullsh1t.
hopefully its actually good
I really enjoyed Risen 2, but I couldn't give it a score above 6 if I was doing the review. It's so bad and so good at the same time. I know that doesn't make sense, but that's the best way I can describe it. Still I'm excited to see what they do with Risen 3. I'm going to wait on it though, because if I would have paid 60$ for Risen 2 I would have hated it and been upset. Instead I paid 10$ and felt like I got more than my money's worth. That helped my enjoyment quite a bit. Shaganumbi anyone? While we're on the subject can we please get some more pirate RPGs.
Good lord does this look bland and boring.
I loved the risen series even with the issues, so I'm really excited for this.
Nice trailer but the game cover art could do with some improvement.
Seems like Risen 3 has some potential. I will be keeping an eye on this one.
DS has a loooooooooooong hard road ahead of them if they want my business back after the abhorrent mess that was Risen 2.
I won't trust it until the reviews come out.
Hmm, are they going after a bit of the Dark Souls vibe. I could go for a Dark Souls clone. I did not play the earlier Risen games because I heard how buggy they were. My hope for Deep Silver, and any developer, is that they continue to learn and eventually put out a great game.
One of the things that attracted my attention of previous games was the pirate theme. I hope they do not steer too far from that. I'll keep my eye on this game. I could use a good late summer game to play before Destiny and Borderlands: Pre-Sequel launch.
