You Can Become A Werewolf In The Elder Scrolls Online

With Halloween approaching, the team at Zenimax Online has revealed new information about one of Tamriel’s most terrifying creatures. Werewolves will be present in The Elder Scrolls Online, and players will even risk contracting Sanies Lupines, the disease which causes the affliction.

The team has shared some concept art (above) and a screenshot of what the beasts will look like in-game. We also have learned that those afflicted will have a full transformation animation, drawing inspiration from film scenes, but with a healthy dose of Elder Scrolls flavor.

The information also teases that there might be PvP elements that come into play as players reveal themselves to be werewolves. “We want you to be able to launch yourself into a frenzied killing spree and feel the uncontrollable strength granted to you by the transformation,” the team writes. “As you can imagine, witnessing a werewolf reveal its true form is disturbing, and it’s certainly an event that will strike fear into those who happen to observe it.”

Werewolves will have their own skill line, so players can expect to get a full experience as a lycanthrope should they be turned. The team went so far as to reference video of animals feasting on prey and used a mixture of human and beastial noises to give the werewolf its own audio profile.

The Elder Scrolls Online is slated for a 2014 release on PC, Mac, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. You can read an extensive preview from Gamescom to learn more about how the team at Zenimax Online is adapting the series to an MMO format. You can also watch a monster-filled video interview with the team from our June 2012 issue.

  • I hope it's better than what they did in Skyrim.
  • As much as I love Skyrim, I don't know that I can justify a monthly subscription to play this. I would certainly love to check it out, but with my gaming hours being limited as it is, I don't think I could devote enough time to make it worth the expense. What are your thoughts?
  • will gladly pay 15 a month if its great quality!

  • Please get rid of the monthly subscription. Or at least make it so that the game can be played singleplayer without a subscription.
  • This might be enough to get me to try this when it comes out.

  • So we're going to see 90% of the population as Werewolves? There have to be drawbacks to choosing the route. It says "uncontrollable", though I have a feeling the character is still fully controllable. Still, looking interesting!
  • It's good to hear they'e playing around with Werewolves for ESO. I hope to see some drawbacks to their abilities though, which would keep me from wanting to run all werewolves for all characters.

  • My last check was $11050 working 10 hours a week online. My brothers girl friend has been averaging 17k for months now and she works about 17 hours a week. I can't believe how easy it was once I tried it out.Blue48.ℂℴm -->
  • Can't wait to play this game. I've played nothing but subscription MMO's like EVE Online and World of Warcraft so playing another one doesn't bother me. I'd much rather pay a flat $15 a month than get the game for free and then have to buy every little thing with real money.
  • If this is on the level I want it to be, I will be a werewolf the entire time given the choice. But like others have said, if its like Skyrim, the perks aren't enough to warrent the cons.
  • Mod

I want to be a werewolf!

  • This news was revealed months ago.

  • Seems only fair.

  • But the true question is...Can I play as a manbearpig?

  • My wish has come true.

  • Really hope they decide to drop the monthly subscription.

  • i'll wait till next elder scrolls in 2015 or 2016 or whenever, just not yet^_^

  • I want to be some of the other wereforms that is mentioned in the elder scrolls lore. I wonder if they will add them also.

  • Man I have absolutely zero interest in this game. I want to. I own all of the other Elder Scrolls games. I just can't give any more than zero ***** about an online version of this universe.
  • Man i can't wait to finally have pvp in an Elder Scrolls game. Even if its broken I will be satisfied. Also, werewolf vs vampire arenas would be cool.
