The latest episode of Did You Know Gaming looks at Sega's final consoles, the Dreamcast.

In the video you will learn about the console's many professional partners leading up to its release (including a long-term relationship with Microsoft), the potato "chip" hardware contained inside, and unreleased accessories like a camera and Dreamcast motion controls.

I'm glad I still have my Dreamcast! Back in 1999, people weren't ready for online gaming is why I think it failed. Now if you can't play a system online, people declare blasphemy.

I couldn't get enough of my Sega systems and the Dreamcast was no different. If it had better 3rd party support who knows where Sega would be now.

I bought mine just for re code veronica.. Loved shenmue and lot more.. played sega bass fishing the most though.. We used to play split screen rippin riders all the time too.. I dunno why it was just fun...

I need to head to my cave now and play some dc... soul caliber sounds fun.....

I owned Soul caliber, marvel vs Capcom 2 , virtua fighter 3tb, Wwf royal rumble , Capcom vs snk, Doa 2, Zombie revenge. NFL2k,grandia, skies of arcadia, spiderman, seaman, sonic adventures 1 and 2. I had good times. During i was hoping Microsoft would have had common sense and made sega a first party developer after their announcement of games only.

One of my favorite consoles. The DC was way ahead of its time. The Xbox took its controller design, and it was the first to have an Ethernet port. It also did what Nintendo is doing now first with the VMU. I still play mine.

Dreamcast was the best. It was so ahead of everything else. If it had just been more hip and popular it could have been the XBOX before the XBOX. The only problem is its controller didn't have two joysticks, so it couldn't have played games like Halo.

I like how the XBOX and the Playstation (as we know them) wouldn't have existed without Sega's involvement. Even though they've passed the torch, their effect on gaming lives on. Though this video left a lot of information out as well. It wasn't just pirating that killed the DC, it was the fact that everyone was burned by Sega after the Saturn. Sega stopped releasing all their good games over here on the Saturn, this is coming from a kid who had to go through the agonizing process of importing from japanese re-sellers through magazine ads. No one trusted them anymore, all my friends avoided getting DCs because the Playstation 2 was so close by and Sony didn't screw them with the PS1. Sadly the same person at Sega who made the decision to stop supporting the Saturn in America also made a lot of the bad decisions that lead to the DC's downfall. I think all this is in the Wikipedia page, as well.

Tech Romancer, Power stone, Evolution, and Virtual on still continue to be some of my favorite games of all time. They were far ahead of their time, it's shame it didn't pull through.
